If anyone had told me ten years ago that one day I'd be playing in cement smack dab in the middle of my kitchen for fun, I would have laughed at their ridiculousness, but here it is 2021 and that's exactly what I'm doing. I am working on making new candle vessels, and I really found cement to be absolutely adorable and cool all wrapped into one. My current goal is to have enough of them made so I can launch my Valentine scents in them on January 8th at the North Port Farmer's Market.
Tomorrow is going to be "sit around making cement jars" day for me so I can get a sense of how many I can feasibly make in a day. I did order a second (not the same) mold to try out as well. We'll see how it goes. I'm really not happy with my 8 oz jars (now on sale until they're gone), and want something different. I'm sure I'll have to find something else out there because I won't be able to keep up with making these, but they are just too cute to not use at least for specialty candles. The 6 oz jelly jars will stick around. I love those too much to let them go!
We are doing an event in Vero Beach in February. It's a two day Blues and BBQ Festival with craft vendors in the center. (See my website's main page for info.) I dressed up my logo to fit the theme, and we'll be experimenting to find a few specialty scents to sell there. We're thinking leather and booze and BBQ (oh my!) in some combination. I'm so looking forward to this festival for the music alone!
I would like to give a giant shout out to everyone who came out to the craft show in Englewood last weekend! We ended up selling out of a lot of our scents. I was psyched to have some repeat customers buying for Christmas gifts. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth. I love your feedback and suggestions. I am going to be sure to have a few unscented candles in my line (requested several times now).
I'm also planning on redoing the website to list items by scent, and then have a drop down menu for the various sizes or wax melts available in that scent. It will hopefully be a lot less scrolling and easier to find what you're looking for. I want to add information on fundraisers or other bulk orders (weddings, perhaps). I've been working on creating the forms and considering the contract wording in my spare time.
I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! You're all beautiful people.
